Community Project Funding

On Wednesday, April 16th, Irwin County Hospital welcomed members of U.S. Senator Raphael Warnock’s legislative team this week as part of ongoing discussions surrounding the hospital’s Community Project Funding (CDS) request for fiscal year 2025.

The team, which included representatives from both Washington, D.C. and the Valdosta regional office, toured the facility and met with hospital leadership to review local healthcare needs and priorities. The visit focused on how federal support could enhance critical access services, improve infrastructure, and support long-term care initiatives in rural Georgia.

“We were honored to host Senator Warnock’s team and share firsthand the challenges and opportunities we face as a rural hospital,” said Krystal Carver, Chief Financial Officer. “This type of engagement helps ensure that our voice is heard at the federal level.”

Senator Warnock has been a strong advocate for expanding rural healthcare access in Georgia, and the hospital’s FY2025 CDS request aims to secure funding for capital improvements, updated medical equipment, and expanded services for the community.

The hospital’s leadership expressed optimism following the visit, highlighting the importance of direct communication with federal representatives as they advocate for the resources needed to serve Irwin County and surrounding areas effectively.
